Inbound Call Quality Epidemic Discussed at FCC’s Workshop

in Inbound Call Quality

On October 18, 2011 ANPI ZONE’s CEO, Dave Lewis, participated in the FCC’s Rural Call Completion Workshop to investigate and address the growing problem of calls to rural customers that are delayed or fail to connect. The goal of the workshop was to identify specific causes of the problem and to discuss potential solutions with key stakeholders. This workshop was an important step towards successfully communicating to the FCC that call completion or inbound call quality is more than a problem — it is an epidemic that affects public safety and adversely impacts businesses that depend on reliable voice and data transmissions.

The workshop successfully highlighted the issue, and we are hopeful the FCC determines to facilitate a resolution that addresses all players and the Commission moves swiftly to mitigate damage between RLECs and their customers. ANPI ZONE remains committed to being a resource to the FCC and a voice for our customers, all while traveling a concurrent path of providing network facilities and tandem access that is independent of carriers who practice questionable routing schemes.

“ANPI ZONE has solutions that meet our customer’s unique needs”, said Doug Abolt, ANPI ZONE’s vice president of product development. “Independence is in our very DNA — and we want to provide solutions that serve our customers needs both immediately and long-term. As we have done with our Tandem Access Services and the continued investment in our network facilities.”

ANPI ZONE’s Tandem Access Services is an example of our desire to provide a readily accessible network that is a scalable, end-to-end platform of carrier-grade quality. It is a solution in which ANPI ZONE can integrate tandem services, while simultaneously lowering broadband access and toll costs. It is an alternative to RBOC monopoly transit and access services with IP/TDM capabilities and connection to predominant IXCs. It also enables cost optimization through consolidation of connectivity while mitigating phantom traffic thereby alleviating billing challenges.

We applaud the FCC’s Task Force for convening a workshop, yet we recognize this is the first in a long line of events, meetings and discussions that will need to occur. If you are experiencing inbound call quality issues, please submit your example to us and we will provide it to our contacts at the FCC.
