In 1996, the leadership of several independent telephone companies from around the country gathered to discuss ways to diversify their businesses and strengthen ties to their customers. This group also wanted to offer competitive long distance prices to better serve the individual communities in which they do business. They decided the best course of action was to combine their resources to more efficiently negotiate long distance rates. This group combined all of its individual long distance traffic and formed Associated Network Partners Inc. (ANPI), the first long distance aggregator in the United States. Today ANPI is the largest and one of the most successful companies of its kind due to the vision of its shareholders, customers and a dedicated team of employees who believed in the organization and its mission.
